Details
Endurance road bicycles and touring bicycles seem to be close cousins, but plenty of customers ask us for bikes that can do the job of both. Many endurance road bicycles can't carry as much gear as some riders desire for multi-day adventures. Touring bicycles certainly can, but wind up being heavy and ponderous on group rides and day trips. The Warroad, however, can claim to have a foot in both worlds.
Salsa built the Warroad around a carbon fiber frame and fork, ensuring a strong, light and responsive feel over every mile. The "recipe" of the carbon fiber is specifically engineered to soak up fatiguing vibration, especially through the seat stays. Called Class 5 VRS, this feature is found on Salsa's gravel/adventure line, including the Warbird and Cutthroat. A BB86 pressfit bottom bracket anchors the crankset for flex-free power transfer. 12mm thru-axles front and rear improve lateral strength for sharp handling. The upright fit of the Warroad allows a wider range of riders (and rider flexibilities) to get comfortable for epic adventures.
Mounts for bottle cages (even under the down tube) and an integrated tank bag make the Warroad a great choice for day-long adventures in the wilderness. Triple eyelets down each fork blade accommodate Salsa's Anything cages or Down Under low-rider front rack. Out back, the Warroad only needs a Salsa Post-Lock seat collar to install a rear cargo rack. Designed to accommodate both 700c and 650b wheels, Warroad riders can set up a second wheelset for changing terrain or preferences. Shimano’s 11-speed Ultegra components are a brilliant choice for smooth, reliable operation in rough conditions. A 50/34T Ultegra crankset and 11-32T Shimano cassette boast a wide gearing range for challenging terrain. Shimano Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes deliver excellent stopping power in all conditions, rain or shine.
Renowned wheelbuilder DT Swiss supplies the tubeless-ready C 1800 alloy wheels, bringing reliability and performance to every mile. Teravail's 700x28c Rampart tires add a smooth feel over rough and choppy pavement and hardpan. A WTB SL8 saddle sits atop an alloy Guide Deluxe seatpost, bringing a comfy perch to the Warroad. A flared Salsa Cowbell Deluxe alloy handlebar completes the cockpit of this versatile machine.
